What weird weather we have been having! Take this week for example – gorgeous sunshine and blue skies over the weekend for our local Mansfield Agricultural Show, followed up by a pretty warm day on Monday which then backed up with a full day of rain and then one with more rain and snow on the surrounding hills. Huh. All a bit strange……
I do know that we have a pretty good forecast for this week’s November Spring market. There is supposed to be some sunshine and hopefully a bit of blue sky as well. Luckily – as we know that many of our regular shoppers are starting to sort out their Christmas lists and organise their meals in the lead up to Christmas!
Many of our stallholders have created hampers and gift packs – make sure you take a look at the packs that Rowie and Mick have put together at Long Lane Capers. Perfect for a stocking filler or a gift all on their own. Matt and Jackie at Howes Creek Farm have created a mini terrine that would be just right for either the table at lunch or for one of the many “drinks and nibbles” gatherings that pop up over December. Martin and Rene at Chocolaterie RenMar have a range of special Christmas chocolates on offer whilst April from Delatite Special Occasions has puddings of all sizes as well as both gingerbread AND chocolate houses. Definitely something for everyone.
If you are looking for a ready made hamper, then Jill from Jillicious has a new venture (within her existing business) called Taste of Mansfield. From booze through to capers, chutney and chocolate, she has created a range of hampers that will suit everyone for Christmas or simply a gift “just because”. Have a look on Saturday – ready made or made to order.
The kids at Mansfield Primary School have been really busy making some beautiful wooden and ceramic Christmas decorations which will be on sale for the next two markets. There will also be hand printed gift bags and tags so that you can wrap your presents straight away! All funds toward the art program at the school.
Breakfast – we are REALLY excited to announce that we have a new stall at this month’s market (and to be ongoing) hosted by Matt from Howes Creek Farm. Matt will be cooking egg and bacon sandwiches – bacon from his farm, market eggs from Greta Valley Eggs – all to be served with a dollop of sauce or chutney. A great start to your market shopping, especially when you add a cup of coffee from The Produce Store. Speaking of coffee…. we have a new initiative for the market. In order to try and reduce the number of take away cups that are used, for every tea / coffee / hot chocolate / chai that you buy and use your own cup (either a fancy reusable takeaway cup or just a regular old mug), you will be able to put one entry into the box to go into the draw for a monthly prize. Let’s see how many entries we can have this month! This will be an ongoing campaign so we will be able to see if our usage of throw away cups reduces each market.
Christmas market – our December market will be held on the THIRD Saturday of the month (the fourth Saturday is Christmas Eve) so we look forward to seeing you again on the 17th December. Why not make a whole day of it and head up to the Tolmie Twilight Market on the same day? A great event under the trees from 4pm on the 17th.
