I can’t believe that we are already up to writing about Christmas lists…. but we are! With just over 5 weeks until Christmas from our market this Saturday it is time to start planning (if you haven’t already). Think about gifts – jams / preserves / nuts / honey / capers / muesli / wines / cider – all of these items make fantastic gifts for your nearest and dearest. If you are already planning a celebration menu then NOW is the time to sort out your meat orders in particular. All of our meat suppliers LOVE to have pre-orders open this weekend which makes it easier for everyone involved.
Our December market falls on the THIRD Saturday again this year – we didn’t think that we could manage a Boxing Day market – and this allows for pick ups and purchases less than a week before Christmas. So mark Saturday 19th December onto your calendar now so that you don’t forget. Even if you are not in purchase mode at that market it is a lovely time to come down and catch up with friends over a cup of tea or coffee and something yummy to nibble on.
October saw a few new stallholders on board – Mansfield Icecream and Australian Trout Exports – who had a fantastic day with support from many of our market goers. This market we see the return of a favourite with the crew from Friday’s Cherry Orchards setting up stall. We also welcome another local with April from Delatite Occasions – Christmas puddings, chocolates and gingerbread houses.
Hampers are an easy way to create gifts at Christmas time – and we have several on offer at different stalls. The Mansfield Hamper is back again this year – a combination of Mansfield produce. These are available both at the market and for orders. Jillicious, Red Elk winery and Howes Creek Farm all have different hampers on offer as well – make sure that you catch up with them individually to see what they have. Mansfield Icecream will be taking orders for 500 ml tubs in readiness for Christmas too.
A big Happy Birthday to the team at Howes Creek Farm – they are celebrating one year of operation! In honour of this occasion they have created two new sausages – Toulouse sausage (French sausage made with pork, red wine, garlic and spice, salt and pepper) and Umbrian sausage (Italian sausage made with pork, red wine, fennel seeds, rosemary and salt.) Make sure that you get in quick because they won’t last long!
