The Mansfield Farmers’ Market is a true farmers’ market that aims to provide local residents and visitors to the Mansfield region with a fabulous market experience that promotes the produce of the region in a unique rural atmosphere.
We adhere to strict guidelines for all of our stallholders – this is a “make it / bake it / grow it” market. Every person who is running a stall is the person who has made or grown the produce that they sell. There are NO resellers of any product permitted at the market.
New Stallholder Application
We support fresh produce farmers, gourmet food producers and community groups. All of our stallholders are Victorian based and the majority of their products are created from Victorian and Australian grown items. Please note – only limited sites are available at the MFM for community groups.
Where will you find us?
In the main street median strip between the Post Office and the Delatite Hotel – just near the roundabout. Mansfield is located between 2 – 3 hours from Melbourne (depending on where you start!) and is a popular daytripping destination for many.
When are the markets held?
Rain, hail or shine on the fourth Saturday of the month from February to December every year. Our December market sometimes swaps to the THIRD Saturday – depending on which day of the week Christmas Day falls on. There is no Mansfield Farmers’ Market in January (but please check Summer in the Park for January market details).
Who will be coming to the market?
The Mansfield Farmers’ Market attracts people who are passionate about creating a relationship with the person who creates their food. We have a strong local following but we also have people who will travel from neighbouring towns and further afield, planning their trips to coincide with market dates.
How will we spread the word?
We tell people about our fabulous market by advertising on community radio stations, local newspapers and in online publications. In addition, we will also have an active Facebook page, we share gorgeous images on instagram, we sometimes jump onto twitter and our latest blog updates can be found on the front page of our website.
Who should apply for a stall?
If you grow it, create it from scratch AND we can eat it or plant it then you can sell it at Mansfield Farmers’ Market. Other items may be included if they fit our guidelines.
What is the selection process?
It’s pretty simple – if you offer something that is not currently sold at our market then there is a high chance that we would love to have you involved. Unfortunately, we can’t accept everyone’s application but that doesn’t mean we don’t like your products! Our aim is to provide a diverse market experience for everyone. Please note that there are waiting lists for many stallholder categories already in place – your application is important but you may not be able to attend immediately.
First preference for stallholders is given to those who own and operate a business within the Mansfield Shire.
Second preference goes to those who live in adjoining shires.
After that if you have something AMAZING that we don’t already have then we would love to talk further!
Just in case you were wondering though….. As at April 2017 we DON’T need: – coffee – ready to eat food – baked goods (such as cakes or bread). We also have a waiting list for powered sites.
Do I need public liability insurance?
Yes! ALL stallholders are required to have their own stallholders public liability insurance for the amount of $10 million.
Can I park my vehicle at my stall?
No. Our council permit requires ALL stallholders to move their cars to one of the all day car parks that are within 200 metres of the market. You may pull in to unload your car or trailer but it will then have to be moved. If you have a trailer attached to your car then please check with market management about alternative parking arrangements.
Is electricity available?
We have a limited number of powered sites – and would prefer if you could be self sufficient in your set up. Please enquire if power is absolutely necessary to run your stall. As at April 2017 we have a waiting list for powered sites. Generators are not permitted.
How do I apply / get more information?
Simply send us an email with your contact details, the name and location of your business and the produce that you wish to sell and we will go from there.
If you are ready to apply then please fill out this form and we will reply as soon as we can!
